DACA
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) provides crucial protections and opportunities for those who were brought to the U.S. as children and who meet specific eligibility criteria. At Luque Law Firm, P.A., we are here to support DACA recipients and those interested in applying for DACA, guiding you through the process with expertise and care.
What is DACA?
DACA offers temporary relief from deportation, allowing eligible individuals to work legally in the United States. Although DACA does not provide a pathway to permanent residency, it offers renewable, two-year protections that can help recipients pursue educational, career, and personal goals with greater security.
Who Qualifies for DACA?
To be eligible for DACA, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Came to the U.S. before the age of 16.
- Have continuously resided in the U.S. since June 15, 2007.
- Were under 31 years of age as of June 15, 2012.
- Were physically present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012, and at the time of applying.
- Had no lawful status as of June 15, 2012.
- Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a GED, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. armed forces.
- Have not been convicted of a felony, a significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.
